Practice Manager

Kelly wanted to join the veterinary profession to learn everything she possibly could about animals. At the same time, she also wanted to pursue a career where she would genuinely love showing up to work every day. As the Practice Manager at Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital, she gets to do both. Not only is she involved with pets and their owners every day, she also truly loves what she does!

Because her father was in the Air Force, Kelly was a “military brat,” so she spent a lot of time relocating to various places. Eventually, Utah would become Kelly’s permanent home. Her veterinary career began when she volunteered at an animal clinic at 14 years of age. She eventually ended up joining the team at Quail Pointe, starting out as a technician, then a receptionist and then Office Manager, before becoming the Practice Manager in 2009.

Kelly enjoys several aspects of her job, especially discussing breeding and reproduction with clients. She also loves delivering puppies and assisting with births.

For the past 20 years, Kelly has been married to her husband, Matt. They have four children: Ace, Rusty, Dylan and Hank. The family is kept occupied and entertained by their three dogs, Sky, Buck and Frank.

In her free time, Kelly enjoys camping with her family and riding horses. She is also into breeding and showing off beautiful labradors!

Kayla

Veterinary Receptionist

Different things bring people joy in life. For Kayla, the main thing that brings her joy and makes her heart full is working with animals. As a veterinary receptionist at Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital, she gets to be around both animals and a great staff every day!

Kayla loves just about every aspect of being at Quail Pointe. She enjoys the clinic owner and the wonderful staff that she gets to interact with on a daily basis. She also loves getting to meet and become familiar with different pets and help their owners by taking care of their furry loved ones.

Born and raised in Hollywood Hills, CA, Kayla’s parents owned a sound studio and her family was involved in the Hollywood movie industry. She did not own any pets while growing up, until she finally begged her parents for a dog. That’s a far cry from today, where she currently owns three dogs, a cat and a bird.

When Kayla isn’t busy at the veterinary hospital, she has her hands full taking care of her household. However, when she does have a little bit of free time, she relaxes by watching movies.

Chris

Veterinary Technician

Chris found herself being deeply interested in the animal field ever since she was in the 9th grade. She always felt a connection to animals and wanted to understand what they try to communicate. She’s been working in the field since 1990, and currently works as a Veterinary Technician at Quail Pointe!

Born and raised in Brigham, Utah, Chris’s veterinary career started at an Animal Hospital in 1990, where she worked as a kennel tech and became a vet tech until moving to another hospital in 1995. After working at various other clinics, Chris came to Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital in 2013. She especially likes trauma surgery, laceration repair, and foreign body removal.

At home, Chris lives with her husband and their daughter. The family has two rescue dogs: a poodle named Theo, and a Maltese mix named Kona. They also have two cats, Noodle and Porkchop.

Chris’s hobbies include reading autobiographies, watching all sports, and scuba diving. She’s also recently become interested in repairing and refinishing old furniture.

Keri

Veterinary Technician

While Keri was driving one day, she drove by Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital and noticed that they were hiring kennel technicians. She had always possessed a love for animals, so she applied for the job and immediately was offered the position. After years of hard work and determination, she quickly moved up the ranks. Today, she is a veterinary technician at the clinic and is thankful to work with animals every day!

Working at a veterinary hospital was a new experience for Keri. Before coming to Quail Pointe, she worked for the local school district, but never felt any true passion for the job. So on that fateful day when she drove by Quail Pointe, she took a leap of faith towards working towards something that would truly fill her heart and make her happy.

One of Keri’s favorite parts of the job is drawing blood, or as the staff calls it, “being one with the vein.” Every blood drawing process is different, and some can be more difficult than others, so Keri relishes the challenge. She also likes the process of placing IV catheters in patients, as it requires a certain delicacy and level of focus. Most of all, Keri loves caring for every single animal that enters the hospital!

Keri was born and raised in Utah, where she has spent all of her life. She is married to her high school sweetheart, and they have two athletic children. When she’s not busy at the hospital, you can catch her camping, hiking, and watching her kids play sports!

Melanie

Melanie

Lead Technician

Before she joined the staff at Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital, Melanie was a client who would bring her beloved pets to the clinic. Whenever she was there, she was amazed at the professional dynamic amongst the staff, and the passion they had for animals. Little did she know, she would soon be joining the staff as a veterinary technician herself!

Melanie’s life goal has always been simple: Make the environment better, and better the lives of animals. She realized early on that in order for the planet to thrive, it’s important that the environment and animals be taken care of. So as a veterinary technician, she’s doing her part to ensure that animals are loved and cared for.

When it comes to her duties at Quail Pointe, Melanie loves the anesthesia portion of the job. She feels a sense of excitement and control while monitoring a patient who is under anesthesia.

Born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, Melanie attended the University of Nevada Reno and studied wildlife ecology and conservation. She completed her education at Broadview University, earning an associates degree in Applied Sciences in Veterinary Technology. She’s currently studying for the exam to become a certified veterinary technician.

Veterinary Student

Mike’s passion for animals began at an early age and continued throughout his adulthood. From caring for his own pets to marveling at the beauty of nature and wildlife, animals have always been at the forefront of his life. When it came time to choose a career path, being a veterinarian was the only option that Mike knew would bring him true fulfillment, and the only thing he could imagine committing his life’s work to.

Mike’s professional journey began in May of 2019 right here at Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital, where he worked full time for two years while finishing his undergraduate degree in Animal Science at Utah State University. He is currently attending vet school at St. George’s University on the sunny island of Grenada, West Indies. During breaks from school, Mike continues to work at Quail Pointe to gain additional hands-on experience.

Clinically, Mike’s two biggest interests are internal medicine and surgery. He enjoys the challenge of having to understand the complex physiology of animals and deciphering what is not functioning correctly. Additionally, surgery provides its own set of challenges. It is often a matter of life and death and requires the utmost skill and precision; but when performed successfully, it can have incredible life-changing benefits.

Outside of the clinic, Mike’s family consists of his wife, Josie, and their two dogs, Nova and Rue. Nova is a miniature Berna doodle and Rue is a pot hound that was rescued in Grenada. Both pups love playing together on the beach, but despite the fact that Rue was born on an island, she is scared of the water and will only go in the ocean if her sister Nova is there to accompany her.

Mike’s hobbies largely revolve around veterinary medicine and nature. While at school, he spends his free time working as tutor for other veterinary students in the classes of physiology and surgical skills. He was also elected to the executive board of the surgery club where he organized wet labs to teach various surgical procedures to other vet students. When back home on breaks, Mike and Josie take as many trips to Yellowstone as possible where they enjoy wildlife photography and fly fishing.

Receptionist

For Em, working in veterinary medicine has been a journey shaped by a lifelong love of animals and a genuine passion for helping people. Her first role in the veterinary world was in Davis, California, where she quickly discovered how much she enjoyed supporting both pets and their owners. When she and her family moved to Utah, she sought out opportunities to continue in the field. In September 2025, she joined Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital as a receptionist, a role that combines her love of client care with her affection for animals.

Em’s inspiration began early. When she was nine, her family rescued a tiny orange tabby kitten from a sack near a river. The kitten, who was soon named Squeaky, quickly became Em’s shadow. Squeaky followed Em everywhere, from her bed at night to trips to the park and even partway to school. The cat’s unequivocal love and companionship ignited a lifelong affection for cats in Em, and deepened her understanding of the special bond between people and their pets.

Before joining Quail Pointe, Em worked at a Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine clinic in California, where she gained a unique perspective on holistic animal care. That experience, paired with her love of customer service, strengthened her desire to stay in veterinary medicine. Today, she finds fulfillment in greeting families and in assisting with everything from routine exams to urgent visits. She also treasures building relationships with clients, many of whom she now recognizes as soon as they walk through the door. Watching new puppies and kittens grow up under the clinic’s care is one of her favorite parts of the job.

Outside of work, Em’s life is full of family and creativity. She and her husband have been married since 1998. They raised three children and are now proud grandparents. Her home also includes Goose, a playful black Lab, and three cats, Penelope, Steve, and Darkness, who are of course all full of that special feline personality. She also loves crafting, sewing, stained glass, and coaching junior roller derby. Em brings the same energy and dedication to her hobbies that she brings to her work at Quail Pointe.

Alexis

Veterinary Technician Assistant

Lexi has always had a heart for animals. When she was a young child, she came upon a small chick who had fallen out of its nest. Her mother called the local wildlife rescue, who came and picked up the baby bird, but the experience stuck with Lexi. In fact, it inspired her to study animal science and ultimately pursue a career in the veterinary industry. Today, she is living her dream and loving every second!

Lexi joined Quail Pointe in the summer of 2023 as an intern. Professionally, she really enjoys ear cleanings because in most cases, the relief is significant and instant. She also has a particular knack for calming nervous clients and helping them understand what’s happening with their pets. If she can leave the client feeling happy and their pet feeling healthy, then she knows she’s done her job.

Outside of the clinic, Lexi is fur-mom to a cat named Gus, whose personality gets bigger by the day. Despite all the toys he’s been spoiled with, Gus prefers playing with cardboard and shoelaces. Lexi’s free time is usually spent crocheting, knitting, and doing quick crafts. The most meaningful pieces she created were scarves she knit for each of her grandparents, which they wear whenever the weather gets chilly.

Receptionist

Em’s curiosity about the veterinary industry began with her sister-in-law who is a certified veterinary technician. She was working in emergency care and knew that not only did Em love animals, but she also had a unique interest in the not so sugar-coated side of medical care. All it took was a couple of shifts of shadowing for Em to know this was her calling. And the rest, as they say, is history!

Em’s first job was as a technician’s assistant, through which she quickly moved up the ranks to the role of vet tech, enabling her to assist with surgeries, dentals, etc. She was hooked! Over time, she has also become increasingly interested in the behind-the-scenes components of running a vet clinic, such as HR and the managerial side of things. This drove Em to pivot to the role of receptionist to further her journey.

The thing that Em loves most about her job is connecting with and educating clients. She loves seeing pet owners walk away feeling confident and empowered to better care for their pets. Understanding the importance of every aspect of their companion’s care, from heartworm tests to annual dental cleanings, and the trust that comes from this is what keeps them coming back year after year.

Outside of work, Em resides with her nerdy NDI engineer boyfriend, Travis, and their extremely food-motivated Schnauzer/Yorkie/Mutt mix, Milo, who will play you like a fiddle and sneak a second dinner or ninth treat whenever possible. When Em first adopted him at 6 months old, he was so shy that the only way she was able to start earning his trust was with bacon (which is still his favorite food on the planet). In addition to Milo, Em and Travis also have four chickens and a rooster.

Em’s personal hobbies include camping, hiking, kayaking around Causey, and pretty much anything that involves being outdoors. She also LOVES to cook, bake, and do anything artsy related. Nothing brings her greater joy than making “poor” sweet Travis do a paint night with her and a couple of other friends. She also really enjoys getting together with friends and doing cheese, wine, beer, etc. tastings.

Receptionist

Riah has always had a deep connection with animals, large, small and everything in between. When she was just two years old, her mother took her to Wheeler Farm, and was shocked when Riah ran right up to the pen of brown cows and stuck her head through the bars. Watching how the cattle seemed just as drawn with her as she was to them, her mother knew instantly that Riah had a gift and would one day grow up to work with animals.

In 2019, Riah joined her university’s animal ambassadors club, through which she cared for and showed several reptile and arachnid species to children through educational presentations. In 2022, she began working as a kennel technician, where she learned a great deal, but found she missed the aspect of interacting with other humans. Joining Quail Pointe provided Riah with the best of both worlds. As one of our receptionists, Riah enjoys managing our busy front desk and creating meaningful connections with clients and their pets.

In addition to her passion for animals, Riah also loves creating things – especially sewing, which she has been mastering for more than 12 years. One of the pieces she’s most proud of is a dress that she made from a 1943 pattern. It was created as part of a project on historical fashion through a program at Salt Lake Community College. Riah has also attended Southern Utah University and Webster State University.

Kristen

Pet Stylist

Kristen grew up in Layton, Utah, where pet care was a natural part of life from her earliest memories. She can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to do everything she possibly could to better the lives of animals! Kristen gets to do just that as a member of the Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital team.

Kristen joined the Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital family in 2015, and serves pets in the clinic’s boarding area as a Kennel Technician. She’s particularly fond of doting on kittens visiting the hospital, and she continues to learn something new on a daily basis. In the future, Kristen hopes to train as a groomer and help pets to look their best as a professional pet stylist!

In her time away from work, Kristen can be found scrapbooking, fishing, and watching movies with her family. She lives in Clearfield with her boyfriend, her daughter, and three loveable pets: Satan the Pit Bull; a cat named Mystery; and a bird who goes by Nibbles.

Since a very young age, Savannah has been fascinated with animals and the impact they have on the lives of humans. Growing up, her neighbors had a sheep farm. Watching the mother ewes give birth and seeing the young lambs grow was nothing short of magical. The more she learned, the more she wanted to pursue a career working with animals. It was a perfect fit!

Savannah enrolled in several animal science classes while attending high school. It was second nature to her. She landed her first job in the industry as receptionist, and quickly worked her way up from kennel tech to veterinary assistant. After about five years on the medical side of things, Savannah discovered that her true passion was in making animals look and feel better. Her favorite part of grooming is working the difficult cases. Providing comfort and relief to pets that are severely matted is very rewarding.

At home, Savannah is dog mom to a boxer named Maverick, who has traveled with her from Hawaii to Utah. The two enjoy hikes on the weekends and lazy Sundays on the couch. When she can break away from work for a bit, Savannah enjoys visiting her parents’ goat farm and taking in the mountain views.

Taylor has always loved bonding with animals, whether it’s her own pets or those she’s had the opportunity to work with. One of the main goals she’s had in any place she’s worked was to always make sure the pet was comfortable and to try and get to know the owners as well. Personally, knowing the people that are taking care of a beloved pet always helps Taylor feel more comfortable and she loves helping others know that their furbaby is in good hands.

Growing up in a family that fostered countless pets, a career working with animals seemed the natural path for Taylor. After graduating high school, she spent a few months at a doggy daycare before landing a job at a local vet clinic. A few months later, she received an email from Quail Pointe, came in for an interview, and the rest is history! Professionally, Taylor enjoys assisting the vet techs and learning about different procedures.

Outside of the clinic, Taylor lives with her family and their own mini farm of animals, which includes three dogs (Bella, Chip, and Oliver), six chickens, three ducks, three guinea pigs, two parakeets, and a tortoise. Some of Taylor’s hobbies include sewing, embroidery, hiking, diamond art, puzzles, and band. She plays the saxophone in the Clearfield community band and was recently presented with the “Outstanding Woodwind” award.

Janson has always been naturally curious about animals and passionate about helping them live their healthiest, happiest lives. But it wasn’t until he was 17—when his family had to say goodbye to their beloved dog—that he understood the true impact of veterinary medicine. The compassion shown by the veterinary team during that difficult time left a lasting impression. It wasn’t just their medical skill—it was the way they cared for both the animal and the family that helped Janson see his future with new clarity.

Today, Janson is a veterinary technician assistant at Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital, gaining hands-on experience as he works toward becoming a veterinarian himself. He’s especially drawn to the diagnostic side of medicine, where lab work helps uncover what’s going on beneath the surface of a patient’s illness. Whether he’s in the lab or working alongside doctors in the exam room, Janson approaches every moment as a chance to learn, grow, and prepare for the career ahead of him.

Born and raised in northern Utah, Janson has lived in Mountain Green since 2011. His family of six is close-knit, and many of their best memories are outdoors—camping, snowboarding, and fly fishing. Those outdoor passions remain part of Janson’s life today. One of his favorite experiences was biking the Whole Enchilada trail in Moab, and he’s always looking forward to the next snowboarding season with his new board.

At home, Janson has a leopard gecko named Muhammad who pounces at anything that moves and keeps him endlessly entertained. His family dog, Cricket, loves to snuggle, and their hunting dog, Quill, is always ready for the next hike.

As he continues his journey toward veterinary school, Janson is exactly where he needs to be—learning from a dedicated team, supporting pets and their people, and building the foundation for a career rooted in compassion, curiosity, and care.

Morgan’s passion for animals began long before she ever picked up grooming tools or stepped into a professional setting. Some of her earliest and most meaningful memories were spent on her grandfather’s small farm, surrounded by animals that required patience, care, and trust. Watching those relationships unfold left a lasting impression on Morgan and quietly shaped the path she would one day follow.

Born and raised in Southern California alongside her mom and older sister, Morgan grew up with two beloved Akitas, Bear and Denali, who further deepened her appreciation for the bond between people and their pets. Those early experiences taught her that animals thrive when they feel safe, understood, and respected—values that continue to guide her work today.

Morgan began her grooming career in Colorado in a corporate setting, where she developed strong technical skills and a deep appreciation for the impact grooming has on a pet’s comfort and confidence. Over time, she felt drawn toward veterinary grooming as a way to align her work more closely with animal health and their overall well-being. That shift felt like a natural next step—one that allows her to combine her grooming expertise with a deeper focus on care.

Quail Pointe Veterinary Hospital came into Morgan’s life through word of mouth from grooming clients she trusted, and later as a client herself. When it came time to move forward in her career, Quail Pointe stood out as the clear choice.

What Morgan loves most about being a Pet Stylist is the connection. She finds joy in building bonds with dogs and their families, cherishing every excited greeting and puppy kiss. Helping pets feel good, look fresh, and leave happier than they arrived is what fuels her passion every day.

Now living in Utah with her boyfriend, two cats, and a chameleon named Yu’lon, Morgan brings the same care, warmth, and dedication to Quail Pointe that has defined her journey from the very beginning.compassion, curiosity, and care.
